Having successfully secured the Finnish national title last weekend JQ went into the special 'Rally Finland RC nitrocross event' on a high, and so it proved as he took victory on the first day as competitor Ari Heinonen suffered drive train issues but managed to finish 2nd, keeping his chances alive for an overall win. The format is a lil' different, in that they run practice, quali and finals all in one day, then repeat. We were sent photos, but no mention of the Rally drivers racing, we know Kimi Räikkönen, Petter Solberg and Sebastien Loeb were all there with rumours that Loeb was the quickest! See www.rallyfinlandgoesrc.com
As you can tell JQ is abnormally tall by Finnish standards. And the trophy girls aren't that hot...!
We've finally discovered what makes Kimi Räikkönen smile: Racing RC cars!

Round 4 of the NRS 'Northern Regional Series' was held at the fantastic NNRC track. The track was bone dry and high grip, but there was a strong cross wind that was causing havoc with the cars trying to jump the double double at the far side of the track, if you could do the double double, it would knock a second and a half off your lap times! Colin Brennan got used to the conditions the best in RD1 and took TQ with a very respectable time of 7laps 5m09.677 . Round 2, and Mark Redmond pulled out an almost perfect run, doing the double double every lap, and setting the fastest time of the day that no one would get near for the rest of the day, doing 7Laps 5m03.428. Round 3, This time Pete Watt had a good steady run and took the round win with 7Laps 5m09.898 followed up by Mark Redmond and Collin Brennan. Mark Redmond took over all pole position. The final, and this was set to be quite an event for the TQ man, after getting off to a good start, Mark Redmond rolled his car on the opening lap, going from 1st to last. Bruce Thompson was leading the final up to the half way point, but by this time the fast chasing Losi / Alpha car of Mark Redmond had worked his way through the field and was up in to second. Mark got passed Bruce on the double double, and from that point on drove a clean steady race to take the win. Pete Watt drove a great final to finish second, and Bruce Thompson 3rd. It was a great result for the ‘Horizon UK / Team Alpha / Radio Racers’ Driver, Mark Redmond. Results - 1 - Mark Redmond - 27 20m28.820 - Losi 2.0 EU / Alpha 2 - Pete Watt - 27 20m31.184 - Serpent 811 / RB 3 - bruce thompson - 26 20m27.195 - Hot Bodies D8 4 - Dave Grunhill - 26 20m36.583 - Hot Bodies D8 5 - Stuart Mahon - 26 20m47.558 - Losi 2.0 EU / Alpha 6 - Neil Burdess - 25 19m32.013 - Losi 2.0 EU / OS 7- Shaun Reeve - 25 20m00.961 - Hobao Hyper 9 / Alpha 8 - chris clarke - 25 20m14.535 9 - Oliver Evans - 25 20m32.984 - Losi 2.0 EU / OS 10 - Jonathan Clark - 24 20m45.797 11 - Colin Brennan - 16 13m09.829 - Losi 2.0 EU / OS 12 - Martin Pearson - 4 3m22.621

After a summer dominated by other events and news we're pleased to show off a rather fantastic model of the 2010 World Championships track in Pattaya. The track is closed during August & September, presumably for the rebuilt and will be open from 1-22nd October - then closed right up until the Worlds begin on 8th November. The three-week 'open' period in October could get pretty busy as teams travel there to prepare as best they can for the main event. You can compare the new planned layout with the Worlds Warm up one here. Link to new Layout model Gallery.
