Similar to the Montpellier GP in terms of its South of France location, but more so as Pierrefeu & Montpellier act as ‘bookends’ to the offroad season, Montpellier opens the new season, and Pierrefeu closes it. 2010 saw a below-par entry due to race being run whilst the Worlds in Thailand were on, however in 2009 it was very popular despite the chilly conditions. Pierrefeu is usually known for its great weather every year; despite the race being in November, its usually ‘t-shirt racing’ and the location of the track is very special – nestled on a beautiful Provence hillside with some spectacular scenery. The track itself is very European and on a slight incline which gives it an interesting feel. The surface is predominantly clay with sand along with a technical concrete section on the far right side by the loop. Yannick Aigoin is the man to beat at Pierrefeu; his home track and with 5 wins to his name from the last 10 years with 3 different chassis manufacturers it shows he’s at home in Pierrefeu.
