Tessmann continues HB TQ charge, does 17 laps

Three rounds in and the HB team mates Ty Tessmann and David Ronnefalk are sharing the spoils thus far, giving newly reinstated designer Torrance Deguzman reasons to smile despite the overcast and slightly chilly conditions. However nothing but fired up driving from Ty Tessmann, putting in the first 17 lap run we’ve seen so far, ominous stuff from Ty, not only going round for a victory lap, but slicing his way through heavy amounts of traffic late on, all of whom were courteous, still mightly impressive stuff.

Ronnefalk claimed 2nd, working his way up, the Swede leaving Q3 with mixed emotions, feeling he lost too much time in the beginning, Dakotah Phend overcame an early heat mistake to claim 3rd as Jared Tebo is loving life in the ‘B’ heat, Elliott Boots looks to be back, a few mistakes cost him a potential 4th late on, similarly for Maifield who was looking quick but ultimately mistakes crept in and a loss of concentration saw him drop off his P2 run. Alex Zanchettin is perhaps the stand out name, the Italian TLR driver starting to ascend the tables.

HB’s David Ronnefalk TQ’s Q2

Team HB are the team to beat so far halfway into today’s qualifying at the 2016 Worlds Warm up, (4 rounds run today, 1 tomorrow), once again it was Jared Tebo who opened up with a provisional TQ in the ‘B’ heat, with Adam Drake half a second behind him, once again times good enough for 5th and 6th respectively. It was Australia’s Kyle McBride running the all production Team Associated buggy that set the pace early on, it wasn’t until a pretty tardy pitstop lap where he lost it to David Ronnefalk, who never looked back and set the fastest time over the 10 minutes seen so far in quali.

Q1 TQ Ty Tessmann would settle for 4th, his time from Q1 would have netted him 2nd, but this time, the Canadian superstar wasn’t able to keep it quite as clean, however again lurking in that P2 spot, Ryan Maifield… always finishing strong. Down in 13th Alex Zanchettin, improving his campaign having seeded into one of the lower heats, and 14th Reno Savoya, star of practice has yet to find himself today. Robert Batlle finally finished… 12th, points he’ll happily take given his luck over the previous 24 hours.

Q2 Quali result

Tessmann takes first blood in Q1

Ty Tessmann finished up top of Q1 with a 3 sec margin to P2 man Ryan Maifield, the 10 min qualifying testing drivers somewhat as track evolution from wet (watered) to drying plays an integral part.

Going into the top rounds, Cole Ogden held the pace before Jared Tebo overcame a slow start to take over the provisional TQ, netting a time good enough for 6th overall as Tessmann put in a comfortable run, having been on 17 lap pace prior to pulling in for his fuel stop.

Maifield came good towards the end, sneaking 2nd from Ronnefalk who spent much of the heat racing closely with Kyle McBride, the pair pulling each other along both in the top 5, with practice TQ Dakotah Phend settling for 4th after a underpar start to his run.

CJ Jelin in 12th is worthy of a mention, the young HB driver excelling thus far, not so for Robert Batlle whose bad luck continues, having run out of fuel and battery giving up yesterday, today in Q1 it was a battery wire coming undone, it seem’s his Mugen is suffering a lingering Vegas hangover! Elliott Boots also suffered in Q1, landing bad off a double and his front left driveshaft popping out, marshall Yannick Aigoin tried in vain to pop it back in but it wasn’t to be for the newly engaged Brit.
