Hobbico stop Team Durango activities

Hobbico announced that they had put an end to the slow agony of Team Durango started two years ago. We had learned the difficulties of the brand when Hobbico, to try to save TD, had ended the sponsorship of its iconic drivers lsuch as Jorn Neumann and Ryan Lutz and considerably slowed down the development of their vehicles. Team Durango will then be less and less present in competition and generally on the international scene, less mediaized than before and despite its notoriety Team Durango will not have succeeded to regain its place on the market. Despite this sad news, Hobbico announced that ARRMA will continue its activities.

Honkanen & Ruotsalainen win at Finnish Nats Rd3

The third round of the Finnish 1/8 Off-road Nationals was held at Vantaan vauhtikeskus. All top 10 Finnish drivers attending race Including Joona Haatanen and Ari Heinonen. After qualification rounds very tight Ari Heinonen took the overall TQ. For the final the track condition was great after little showers. In the 45minutes final Team Durango’s Markku Honkanen won his first ever National race. In E-Buggy class  Lauri Ruotsalainen took an easy TQ. In finals Lauri dnf the first final then he managed to resolve problems and took first place in 2nd and 3rd final and therefore the overall win.

Carlos Fonseca announces Team Durango departure

The Portuguese driver Carlos Fonseca has announced on Facebook that he was leaving Team Durango  less than a year after he joined the team.

I want to say thank you to Team Durango for the last year. And a very big thank you for their support and to all the guys in this great team Nuno Roque TD, Fabien Simonini, Travis Amezcua, Chris Doughty, Jason Ametrine TD, DBoots Tyres, Katharina Willgerod and many more, It’s been a pleasure to work with you guys. Sometimes changes happen but I will bring a lot of friends for life! See you in races. Now, that’s time for a new challenge. Best wishes, keep tuned” – Carlos Fonseca

JP Richards Joins Team Durango

Team Durango announced that 2014 Reedy Race 2WD Open Class Winner and Stock ROAR National Champion, JP Richards, has signed to race Team Durango USA in 2016. US based JP has a wealth of racing experience to bring to the team with also a strong focus on further increasing track side support and social media coverage for all Team Durango fans.

“I am super excited to be joining Team Durango for the 2016 racing season. I’d like to thank Travis Amezcua and Brad Brucker for the opportunity. Their products have been proven on a national and world level and I look forward to continuing that heritage. My first race will be the CRCRC Midwest Champs the 2nd weekend in January, then the Reedy International Race Of Champions” – JP Richards

Interview: Travis Amezcua talks Team Durango


Over the past year, a lot has changed in the R/C industry. Among those changes is a wide variety of news from Team Durango. The brand announced in late 2014 they would not have a ‘pro-team’ for 2015, as they were turning their focus to consumers and club level racers instead. Later, long time driver and supporter, Travis ‘Peanut’ Amezcua was assigned a full-time role within the company, and was recently scene at the IFMAR 1/10 World Championships in Japan. Sporting a new array of TD vehicles, Amezcua had an impressive showing (despite some electrical issues), and RCN decided to catch up with the veteran pro to find out the latest happenings with Team Durango, the future, and his racing program!


Ari Heinonen doubles up at Finnish Winter 1/10 Nats Rd.1

The first round on the Finnish National 1/10 Winter Series was held at the new PKSRCA permanent indoor track in the center of Helsinki. The Winter Series includes 6 races across Finland and Estonia, and has gained a lot of popularity, making it ones of the biggest Finnish series with over 100 in attendance at the first race. PKSRCA, a new track right in the centre of Helsinki, features the same carpet as in the popular EOS series so that the track conditions are as close to the EOS as possible.

Team Durango Finland / Team Hobbyfactory were very successful and dominated both 2WD and 4WD classes at Round 1 of the series. Saturday’s 2wd program saw Team Durango’s Ari Heinonen and Markku Honkanen set the pace early on. Heinonen would take TQ and carry on to win the overall.

4wd was a similar showing, however, Joel Valander would steal TQ from the Durango duo of Heinonen and Honkanen. Once again, Ari Heinonen turned up the heat for the finals, and went on to win A1 and A2 for his second overall win on the day.
