Byron comment on 2017 driver line up

byron

In an effort to address some of the swirling rumours  (that their whole team was on the move) in this rather ‘perfect storm’ of a Silly Season, Byron Fuels have put out the following press statement:

2017 BYRON FUEL TEAM

With 2017 just around the corner, Byron Fuels is entering an exciting time by starting out the year with a fresh look at our factory team and newly modified agreements. We can proudly say that a large percentage of our Surface and Air team members remain committed to the Byron Fuel family and are eager to continue representing the Byron brand.

In addition, we plan to use 2017 to evaluate the changing times in the industry as a whole. In doing so, we plan to examine opportunities that will allow us to build upon the foundations of superior products that our customers and RC Enthusiasts around the world have grown accustomed to. Plus, we believe our efforts coupled with the efforts of other like-minded manufacturers will result in overall industry growth and sustainability for many years to come as well.

Stayed tuned for additional and exciting news from Byron Fuels throughout 2017.

As always, if you have questions or comments about Byron Fuels we invite you to contact us via email @ info@byronoriginalsinc.com or by phone at 800-594-9421.

Tebo doubles at Byron’s Heartland Offroad Challenge

img_6555

Over the weekend Fastlane R/C Raceway in Blue Springs, Missouri hosted the 2016 Byron Fuels Heartland Off-Road Challenge, Kyosho Factory drivers Cody King flying in from California whilst (former Byron driver) Jared Tebo also attended but now a Missouri-native. Tebo TQ’d all three qualifying rounds, Lutz lining up 2nd and Cody 3rd.

It proved to be a tone-to-tone victory for Tebo as he dominated the main final, King and Lutz swapping positions to complete a 1,2 for Kyosho and Pro-Line, Lutz coming home in 3rd ensuring a majority Byron podium at their home event.

Strangely considering the ‘Fuel sponsored’ event, an E-Buggy class was held – Tebo would go on to win & TQ with Seth van Dalen 2nd and Kyle Skidmore 3rd.

Byron Fuels Heartland Challenge 2015

Heartland Challenge

Now in its 4th year, the Byron Fuels Heartland Challenge is a great way to finish off the 2015 nitro season. The race is held at the famous HobbyTown USA Hobbyplex in Omaha, Nebraska on September 25-27, 2015. The Hobbyplex is a one of a kind racing facility. A 15,000 square foot building covers the 160 x 70 foot dirt track. 16 garage doors open up, keeping an outside feel to the track, while ensuring a weather free weekend. The Plex has 175 indoor, 4-foot, air conditioned pit spaces. The HobbyTown USA Hobbyplex is also one of the nations largest and well stocked hobby stores. New for this year is a plus one type bump up. After the top two from the B-main bump up, the fastest 10 lap average from any lower main will qualify for the 11th spot in the A-main! Big names, a great track, Byron contingency on the line, and some great giveaways, don’t miss out!

Long Term Update: OS Speed B2101

IMG_0759

3+ gallons of testing, racing and wear means our equipment actually looks used, not brand new – particularly the OS 2090 pipe.

By Stephen Bess

Welp, I’ve tested the OS B2101 about as thoroughly as I possibly can at this point, and I’ve managed to squeeze nearly a dozen races (with practice, qualifying and mains included) into my testing for the B2101 Speed engine.  After each weekly race, I followed the same maintenance routine – remove the engine/pipe, clean and prep the clutch, disassemble and clean the head, backplate and piston/sleeve.  Carbon buildup on the button and piston head are lightly removed with 0000 steel wool, and everything is then thanked for running properly, cleaned and reassembled.  Yes, I whisper sweet nothings to my engines to keep them happy.  You don’t?

ProTek SAMURAI 321B: FOLLOW UP TESTING
By: Stephen Bess

A few months of testing has proven the ProTek Samurai 321B engine (first seen here: NeoBuggy’s Samurai First Look) to be a seasoned, and successful warrior.  As promised, this is the follow up, semi-long term report after over 2-gallons of fuel and multiple race outings here in Southern California.

Brake Bias Quick Tip: Ty Tessmann

Nitro Brakes Quick Tip

Ty Tessmann and his pit-pop Gord know a thing or two about wrenching on a 1/8-scale buggy or truggy, and Ty’s cars always look perfectly tuned-in on the track.  Who better to ask for a quick tip than the guy who owns multiple championships at races like the ROAR Nationals, Dirt Nitro Challenge, Silver State and Neo Race, among countless others?

We sent some electronic mail across international borders to Ty in Canada for a tuning tip that would be quick, easy, and informative–and after (we assume) finishing off his Tim Horton’s coffee Panda Express, he sent us this tip on setting brake bias.  Ty simply and succinctly shares with us his preferences for brake bias and driving style.  It may surprise you to discover that Ty doesn’t think much bout the percentage of brake bias he runs–only the way it feels on the track and on the pit bench.
