RW Mods is US Distributor for Argus

New American ditributor for ArgusExciting news has been released from Argus Model today, as they have announced their competition engine line will soon be available in North America. RW Mods has been modifying and servicing engines of top drivers for years, and will now be taking on the Argus Engine line as the official North American distributor. Rex Welch of RW Mods says,

“The great experience we had with Argus in the past is a big reason we are taking on the distribution. All of the Argus engines (2010-2011) I sold ran great and lasted a long time. I personally still have my 3 year old Argus and use it for testing new ideas. I just received the new shipment of engines and they look great. Argus currently has 4 engines available headed by the newly released R8 .21 turbo offroad engine. Other models include the D52 .21, A52 .23, and the A5 .21, all of the current models are for offroad use.” RW Mods are also currently looking for dealers and team drivers for their RW/Argus USA team.

ARGUS Wins in Waikato

Making it’s debut at the 2012 Waikato Champs, the biggest off road event held in New Zealand, the new Argus .23 A52 powering the Agama A8T of Argus team driver Adrian Lorenzen, quickly made their mark on the event. At the top of the time sheets during the weekend, the .23 A52 performed flawlessly. Taking the lead early in the 60min final Adrian was able to comfortably make 9 min pit stops gaining a further advantage over his rivals. Adrian finished with a time of 83/1h0m24.531s , 2 laps ahead of 2nd place. Only a mechanical issue to the buggy of team driver Kent Perry could stop a clean sweep for Argus engines. Leading for most of the buggy final with his Argus B52, the cruel blow came with only minutes left from the finish, forcing Kent to pit for repairs. He rejoined shortly after and finished a creditable 4th. Former NZ champ Jerry Davis made a welcome return to racing with a Argus A52 powered Agama buggy. Qualifying 2nd for the final, Jerry and Kent battled for the lead early in the race. Unfortunately another mechanical issue ended his run early.

Truggy A final:

1st Adrian Lorenzen – Agama/Argus
2nd Craig Underwood – Mugen/GO
3rd Dave Edhouse – Losi/Reds
4th Jeremy MacMahon – Mugen/Alpha
5th Scott Brownhill – Losi/JS
6th Nathan Toia – Serpent/GO
7th Grant Jenkins – Team C/GO
8th Mike Young – Xray/RB
9th Gerard O’Loan – Serpent/RB
10th Mike Stratford – Kyosho/Alpha
11th Jonathan Thompson – Team C/OS

Argus B52 engine

Not long after the release of their A5 engine, Argus serve up another new engine, the B52 referring to it’s 5 + 2 bypass port design – not named after the planecocktail or rock band sadly! On a more serious note, the B52 replaces the original A52 and Argus tell us that they have improved on the engine’s speed as well as torque band giving the engine a very smooth linear feel to it.

Argus have let us know that they are on the lookout for new distributors & agents, those interested should contact argus_model@livemail.tw | Argus-RC.com
