Race report from Jim Thompson:

With the Covid 19 situation in the world this event would be put into turmoil and uncertainty but the Club/BRCA worked on safety solutions to make this happen. The HNMC GP has become a way of life for all now and could not be missed from the calendar still upholding the club’s values of fun with maximum track time. We must apologize for cutting the numbers for this event, to those that missed out really sorry ladies and gents. Every year the club track team pull out all the stops to tweak and improve on the track layout. I cannot thank enough everyone who came down to help with this your efforts have been well received.

The format has remained the same for last three years Saturday controlled practice, Sunday qualifying and finals on Monday. The two main contenders before the event would be Callum Niblett and Jamie Clancy and we hand an unknown talent from Denmark their champion Daniel Bubel. Saturday was a damp day with drivers in heat 9 and 10 deciding not to run as it was so wet.

Qualifying:

Nitro Buggy was taken by Callum Nibett with Jamie Clancy and Simon Reeves taking rounds 3 and 5. E-buggy was Michael Lightfoot from Darren Hayden-Ball with Mike Cradock 3rd. Truggy would see James Baxter from Richard Cousins and John Niall in 3rd.

Evening fun was had with the longest distance travelled with one tank. Winner Glenn Smith 2nd Toby Nicoll 3rd Craig Russell the top 2 completing 16 laps each (record held by Karl Jackson of 18 laps in 2018) Just before main event would be the junior final this was wone by Dylan Saunders second was Erik Lykke and Mathew Peters 3rd.

Finals:

Nitro Buggy would see Callum Niblett lead out for 25 minutes then Jamie Clancy would reel him in to take the lead with 8 minutes to go and take a hard-fought win, Simon Reeves taking 3rd.

E-Buggy was hard fought over three legs only decided on the last one with Michael Lightfoot 1st, Darren Hayden-Ball second and Mike Cradock third.

Truggy lastly battled between James and Richard with James Baxter 1st Richard Cousins 2nd and John Niall 3rd.

I would like to thank everyone who attended this event and for adhering to the safety protocols in the pit lane, rostrum and track marshalling we hope you all got home safely.
