The annual King of the Valley race was held this weekend in Maitland Australia. Currently the best track in Australia, it attracted the nations top talent as Kyle Mcbride (Infinity/O.S.Engines/Pro-Line Racing), Alex Bernadzik (Team Associated/O.S.Engines/JConcepts), Craig Laughton (HB Racing/O.S.Engines), Ari Bakla (XRAY/FX Engines/Pro-Line Racing), Zac Ryan (HB Racing/O.S.Engines/VP Fuel/Pro-Line Racing), Jarred King (XRAY/VS Racing Engines/Pro-Line Racing), Ben Panic (HB Racing/O.S.Engines/VP Fuel/JConcepts), Roberts, Jackson Beale (Mugen Seiki/O.S.Engines/Pro-Line Racing), Jonathan Yeung (Tekno RC/Alpha Plus Engines/AKA) all descended on the track outside of Sydney to battle for the title. The club made the choice to run qualifying as heads up racing and it was a great decision as racers battled it out in qualifying over two days. K.McBride TQ’ed after 4 rounds and they went into the 40 minute main with everyone eager to lay down fast laps on the flowing Laughton built track. With a rolling start inspired by sprint cars the tone went and the drivers were off. K.McBride and A.Bernadzik were off and gapped the field with A.Bakla, B.Panic, Roberts and Z.Ryan in hot pursuit. Up the front midway through the race K.McBride led A.Bernadzik by 4 seconds and they were battling hard. K.McBride made a mistake at the halfway mark and was out with gear failure, A.Bernadzik took over the lead and layed down the fastest lap of the race as he brought home the win followed by J.King and A.Bakla.

Thanks to Ben Panic for the report.
