Designed for Carpet and Dirt.

Both Dirt and Carpet edition of the XB2 are both designed specifically for the different track conditions and extensively tested in all the different tracks to ensure maximum performance right out of the box. The XB2D was long time tested at slippery track at Hudy Arena and at various dusty European tracks till high traction tracks in USA. The XB2C was extensively tested at the carpet track at Hudy Arena and during the whole EOS race series season at various tracks around the Europe. The Carpet edition was at the same time tested at various Astro tracks.

The new chassis features bent sides for improved weight balance and increased traction with maximum stability of the car. The rear part of the chassis is narrower. After extensive testing of 25 different chassis designs, the final concept was selected for its flex characteristics and layout to produce the best balance of traction and stability. CNC-machined from high-quality 2.5mm Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum, the lightweight chassis retains the necessary strength and rigidity, and is black coated at XRAY’s own in-house fully robotic coating line. The new chassis is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Side Guards.

All-new side guards integrate with the bent chassis and incorporate the new adjustable battery holder system. The tough composite side guards use double-sided Velcro tape to seal the body perfectly to the chassis and seal against dirt. The side guards are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Side Guard Braces.

All-new graphite side guard braces with redesigned shape make the front of the car more stable and more predictable. With the multiple mounting positions there are three flex settings available.

Soft setting: more aggressive front of the car
Medium setting: setting in between
Stiff setting: more precise handling of the car

The side guard braces are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Battery Holder.

All-new tweak-free fully adjustable battery holder is integrated into the side guards allowing easy and fast battery position adjustments, as well as simple battery installation through the smart quick-release system. The battery pack can be easily moved front/rear to adjust the balance of the car. When the rear motor brace is removed, the battery pack can be moved completely rearward to maximize the rear weight bias and generate extra traction on the rear suspension. The height of the battery backstop is also adjustable for different battery sizes. The battery holder is mounted to the chassis through one connecting screw on each side brace to eliminate any negative effects on chassis flex. The battery holder is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Gear Box.

All-new super-narrow, ultra-low CG gear box (LCG) features quick & easy diff access. The new narrower design of the gear box reduces weight and moves all parts closer to the chassis centerline.

Longer gear box: for front motor position – keeps more weight over the front axle for improved steering and corner speed on high grip surfaces. Included in the Carpet edition.
Shorter gear box: for rear motor position – improves traction on low grip surfaces by moving the weight of the motor and top shaft closer to the rear axle. Included in the Dirt edition.

Diff Height Adjustment.

The gear box features a new differential height adjustment. There are 6 height adjustment positions available using the included eccentric bushings. The ideal position will vary depending on the track conditions, ride height and the size of the tires used.

Easy Diff Access.

The completely redesigned gear box features super easy access to the differential. Now both Gear boxes for Dirt and Carpet edition have the super easy diff access by removing only 6 screws. The gear box incorporates all the finest details and craftsmanship. All parts fit together perfectly, and the super-easy access to the rear differential will be appreciated by every racer. The durable gear box houses the differential with all the transmission components, and serves as the mounting point for the rear roll center holder, motor plate, and rear shock tower.

Motor Mount Brace.

All-new redesigned motor mount brace ensures optimum flex via a pivot ball mount that ensures side flex for increased traction. The design of the car also allows removal of the motor mount brace to increase flex and to move the battery pack further to the rear to position more weight over the rear axles for improved rear traction. The motor mount brace is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Ball Differential.

The updated ball differential was refined and redesigned for the new transmission dimensions. The narrower design accommodates the narrow gear box and all the details were improved to make the differential smoother to increase traction. The redesigned XB2 ball differential offers improved performance, durability, and easier maintenance. The externally adjustable ball differential is machined from HUDY Spring Steel and is additionally hardened for extra durability and a longer lifespan. A high-quality carbide thrust bearing and carbide balls are included for ultra-smooth operation. Includes outdrive adapters designed for use with drive shafts with 2.5mm pin. The ball differential is suggested for all types of dirt tracks and for bumpy Astro tracks and is included in the Dirt edition only.

Gear Differential.

The all-new gear differential was completely redesigned. The differential has greater internal volume for more oil to increase consistency of the diff action, yet at the same time it is significantly narrower to fit into the new LCG gear box and to move the rotating weight closer to the centerline. The super-smooth gear diff includes a composite case and cover with internal satellite gears that are precision-molded from special XRAY-developed graphite composite material, ensuring a long lifespan and super-smooth, efficient operation. The gear differential is suggested for medium to high traction conditions as it increases on-power steering that is beneficial on all carpet tracks. The gear differential is included in the Carpet edition.

Slipper Clutch.

Power from the motor is transferred to the drivetrain via an externally adjustable slipper clutch for quick & easy tuning. The all-new slipper clutch was redesigned to accommodate the new LCG gear boxes and refined for different track conditions. There are two different slipper clutch designs available:
2-pad slipper – increases slippage to generate smoother acceleration at low traction conditions, included in Dirt edition
3-pad slipper – less slippage to generate more consistent breaking at high traction conditions, included in Carpet edition

The slipper pads are made from ultra-efficient SLS material with very-high slip efficiency, thus allowing very precise slip adjustment. The lightweight slipper plates are machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 and additionally hardened before a final black surface treatment. The plates have a machined relief which decreases the friction surface to assist with clutch slip adjustment. With this plate design, pressure is focused on the circumference of the clutch pads for increased efficiency.

Motor Plate & Spur Gear Protector.

All-new motor mount plate is redesigned to fit the new LCG gear box design and accommodate the updated spur gear protector. The super lightweight motor mount is machined from Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum and is a universal design that fits both Carpet and Dirt Edition gear boxes. The molded composite gear protector prevents contact of the spur gear with the body. Moulded from strong, lightweight material, the cover helps to protect the body shell and spur gear, and allows the body to be mounted lower without interference. The motor plate is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Roll Center Holder.

All-new roll center holder is redesigned to fit the new LCG gear box and features updated roll center positions. The roll center holder also serves as the rear anti-roll bar mount. An optional rear aluminum roll center holder features roll center positions in between the stock positions for additional tuning choices. The optional front aluminum roll center holder allows for mounting an anti-roll bar when needed for certain track conditions. The roll center holder is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Upper Deck.

As a part of the Multi-Flex system, the front upper deck is used to adjust chassis flex. There are two different upper decks available – medium (optional) and hard (included). The harder material makes the car more predictable and forgiving on the track depending on the track conditions. The front upper deck features access openings for easy anti-roll bar adjustment. The upper deck is universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Drive Shafts.

To match the new geometry of the updated rear suspension, the driveshafts’ length is increased compared to previous years. Dirt and Carpet edition feature different length driveshafts to match the arm length, outdrive width and hub position of each version. Manufactured from world-renowned HUDY Spring Steel the drive shafts feature 2.5mm drive pins for maximum drivetrain efficiency. The drive shafts are some of the thinnest yet most durable drive shafts used in electric off-road cars. Treated with a proprietary hardening process, the drive shafts provide unbeatable lifespan and reliability.

Rear Uprights.

Rear uprights feature new aluminum roll center mounts with updated roll center position. The upper roll center is adjusted at the camber linkage via shims (up/down & in/out), while the lower roll center is adjustable via eccentric inserts for 9 different positions (up/down & in/out). The multi-function uprights have the upper roll center position in the middle of the axis of the driveshaft joint to help generate more traction and increase stability. There are three different uprights available: hard (included), graphite (optional), and aluminum (optional), each suitable for particular track conditions.

Shock Towers.

Both front and rear shock towers are all-new on the XB2. The front shock tower has a lower design for increased stability and the rear shock tower features new shock positions and three different wing mounting positions. The new rear tower is compatible with both front and rear motor LCG gearboxes, reducing the number of parts needed to change between configurations. CNC-machined shock towers are made from thick premium-grade graphite material for incredible strength and a long lifespan. Each tower features multiple shock positions. The shock towers are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Suspension Holders.

All-new narrower suspension holders were redesigned to move the inner pivot location closer to the vehicle center allowing for longer suspension arms and new suspension geometry. The narrower design increases rear traction.
The aluminum suspension holders feature Integrated Suspension Settings (I.S.S.) which allows for quick & easy suspension geometry set-up. Machined from premium Swiss 7075 T6 aluminum and black coated. The suspension holders are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Rear Suspension Arms.

The rear suspension arms are all-new with a completely different design specifically for Dirt and Carpet edition. The longer suspension arms have an all-new geometry for improved consistency and handling.

Dirt edition: the rear upright position on the arm is moved maximum frontwards with an extensive range of wheelbase adjustment.
Carpet edition: supper narrow arms used from XB4 allows to move the arms maximum frontwards that moves the weight into the rear of the car.

There are two different rear suspension arm hardness alternatives available: hard (included) and graphite (optional), each suitable for particular track conditions.

Front Suspension Arms.

All-new front suspension arms have a universal design for both Dirt and Carpet editions. The suspension arms have all-new geometry for improved handling and the repositioned lower shock mount locations lower the shocks and shock tower to decrease the CG. The new design of the arm allows for a greater range of adjustments. The opening for the C-hub is larger for greater wheelbase adjustments possibilities compared to previous versions. The shock mounting location is wider to allow use of the new eccentric shock pivot ball to move the shock absorber between two different positions creating different shock angles that affect traction and corner speed. The arm also features a new mounting position for the optional front anti-roll bar. There are two different front suspension arm hardness alternatives available: hard (included) and graphite (optional), each suitable for particular track conditions. The front arms are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Shock absorbers feature all-new eccentric lower mounting pivot ball that changes the angle of the shocks when mounted in the arm. The angle of the shocks affects the traction the car will create and also the way the car jumps and lands. Depending on the combination of the track, traction, tires, type of the chassis, position of the arms and uprights/steering blocks the shock angle can be adjusted either more in vertical or in less vertical position. The SLP (Super Low Profile) shock absorbers offer superior performance, especially for high-traction conditions where together with the SLP shock towers there is reduced chassis roll, thus allowing the use of more droop for better landings. The shocks are membrane-free while still allowing for an easy and consistent build with rebound adjustment using a bleed-screw shock cap design. Downstop is adjusted using composite shims under the pistons. Upstop travel is adjusted using composite shims under the shock collar. The shock absorbers are universal for both Dirt and Carpet edition.

Shock Springs.

The all-new shorter shock springs allow greater ride height adjustment. A wide range of different optional shock springs are available for super fine adjustment. The SLP shock springs are specifically designed to fit the SLP shock absorbers however all of the previously available shock springs will fit as well, providing a large range of tuning options. The XB2 springs, like all other XRAY springs, are manually measured, selected, and matched into pairs to guarantee precisely equal length and damping characteristics. Each spring is laser-engraved with stripes to clearly indicate its firmness.
