The second round of the Malaysian Electric National League (e-MNL) was held at The Dirt Bureau RC Raceway, 3StonePark, Malaysia last weekend. For the first time in Malaysia, this race was open which encourages participants from neighbouring countries to qualify on a Malaysian Ticket for the IFMAR World Championships. Although the track seemed visually simple, racers commented that it was all a deception as the technicalities were in the tricky combination jumps, pronounced chicanes, corners and table tops and a tempting long jump at the end of the back straights.

The 2WD Modified class heats was a close race between current championship leader, Team Associated’s Jade Lim, XRAY’s Jody Long and PR Racing’s Kelvin Yong who each won a heat but it was Jade Lim who secured TQ. In the 4WD Modified class heats, local and SWORKz racer Hakeem grabbed the TQ by nailing down the only 15 lap over Team Associated driver Mubashir Mazhar , Tekno’s Kent Sung and Intech’s Ramesh. In the SCT heats, Team Associated’s Hakeem secured TQ with a close fought battle with Tekno driver Shem and Intech driver Adrian Khaw who each won one qualifying round.

The 2WD finals saw Jody Long race consistently on a hot dusty track to win A1 & A2 finals over Jade Lim. PR Racing’s Mark Lim from Singapore came in third with Kelvin Yong in fourth and Durango’s Azam Nordin in fifth.

4WD finals was a super exciting three way battle among Jody Long, Mubashir Mazhar and Serpent’s Mizan which each one of them taking turns to fill up position first , second and third in the A1, A2 and A3 finals. Jody Long eventually took the win on countback with Mubashir Mazhar in second and Mizan in third. PR Racing driver Mark Lim took fourth spot and Hakeem the fifth.

In the SCT finals, Hakeem laid down consistent laps to win A1 and finished second in A2 and A3 to take top spot on the podium. Shem finished second and Adrian Khaw took third.
