Arizona native Ryan Maifield made swift work of day 1 of qualifying at the annual Dirt Nitro Challenge in Phoenix, AZ. With Thursday hosting truck and E-Buggy qualifying rounds and Friday reserved for nitro buggy, the recently crowned 1/10th World Champion would TQ rounds 1 and 3 with Associated team leader Ryan Cavalieri TQ’ing Q2. Tanner Stees will line up 3rd for Saturday’s AMain, having done his work early in rounds 1 and 2, starting just behind is Tanner’s more decorated XRAY team mate Ty Tessmann. The ‘Top Euro’ award goes to Alex Zanchettin, the Italian ‘Bull’ relishing the rough track conditions with his truck.

In the Pro E-Buggy class we had 3 different top qualifiers share the spoils, with Ryan Lutz taking round 1, Maifield Q2 and Joe Bornhorst Q3 setting the fastest time so far. With Maifield coming home a close P2 in the final round he secured himself the best points score with two from three rounds counting a few extra bonus dollars with TQ. Bornhorst will line up 2nd, Lutz 3rd. Tanner Stees once again leading his team mate in quali in 3th with Ty 5th, rejuvenated intercom-wearing Spaniard Robert Batlle 6th.
