Alseno in northern Italy hosted the annual ‘summer edition’ of the Italian Job Race, with scorching temperatures experienced (40 + celcius) , the majority of Europe’s ‘elite’ was present keen to get racing after a short hiatus; the first event after the European Championships in Sweden which re-established the pecking order amongst the Pros.

In qualifying David Ronnefalk would TQ Q1 with Neo Champion Davide Ongaro taking the next two rounds and finally Marco Baruffolo rounding out with the final round TQ. In E-Buggy, Ronnefalk TQ’d 3 of the available rounds with Elliott Boots taking Q3 and 2nd behind the Swede. The nitro semis saw Ongaro & Ronnefalk ontop, the former starting on pole, Elliott Boots had a tougher time and would make it into the main via the last chance qualifier.

E-Buggy would see Marco Baruffolo take the victory after racing with polesitter David Ronnefalk, the Swede holding the lead for the first few laps before a mistake allowed Baruffolo past. Ronnefalk running 2nd finally missing out on a final last lap dual, caught by the finishing tone by 2/10ths leaving Baruffolo with a victory lap, Riccardo Berton finishing 3rd overall.

In the nitro buggy final we’ll hand over to eventual winner David Ronnefalk for his take on it, “I kept cool and had a 12 second lead over Ongaro halfway into the 45min main. I was in control of the race and stayed patient in front. Towards the end Davide had two flame outs and dropped down moving Robert up to 2nd, I had him a couple a seconds in front of me towards the end so almost a lap and I could cruise to the finish“.

Newly re-crowned European Champion Robert Batlle would take 2nd with a very strong finish from Mattia Polito taking the final podium sopt and Radiosistemi’s new signing Leo Valente in 4th infront of Riccardo Berton.

In a post on Facebook Ronnefalk shared how much the victory meant to him, “Feels so good to finally get that win I’ve been chasing all year. I’ve had many good races with podium finishes this year but this time I took the last step onto the top spot. To bounce back like this after a bit disappointing 3rd place at the Euros feels so nice.”
