The 20th Annual Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout was held this past weekend in Santa Clarita, California. The main talk leading up to this event was centered around the extreme temperatures for the weekend. This would hold true as temps reached into the upper 90’s and even low 100’s putting all manufacturers equipment to the ultimate test. In the 4wd Modified Buggy class, Team Orion’s Ty Tessmann would TQ rounds #3 & #4 to secure the overall TQ.

In A-1, Tessmann battled back from a rough start to take the impressive win while being the only driver to make it by for the 23rd lap. In A-2, Tessmann and Team Associated’s Spencer Rivkin had a great battle for the entire race. Rivkin would hang on for the win and just edge out Tessmann by 2-seconds. In A-3, Tessmann drove a flawless race while leading every lap to take the win along with the 4wd Modified Buggy Championship. Rivkin in second and Team Associated’s Dustin Evans in third rounded out the top 3.

In E-Buggy Team Orion’s David Jenson dominated qualifying by TQ’ing 3 out of the 4 rounds. After having some tough luck in A-1, David bounced back nicely by taking the commanding wins in A- 2 & A-3 to take the 1/8 Electric Buggy Championship.
