Ryan Maifield made it two wins from three at the Silver State in Las Vegas, keeping up his brilliant start to the 2017 season, the story of the race however belonged to Dakotah Phend as he led for over half the race but would be cruelly denied late on with problems.

Starting out Phend held the race lead until mistakes cost the polesitter dropping him as low as 4th, this re-ignited his drive and he fought his way back as Tessmann and Maifield took it in turns to lead, confirming how close the pack was during the first 15 laps, eventual winner Maifield was as low as 6th on lap 15 whilst Ty was out front with Phend in 2nd, eventually Maifield would pass Tessmann and open up a bit of a gap, but Phend looked to have everything in hand.

That was until a mistake allowed Maifield to catch within 2 secs, this ebbed and flowed until late on lap 69 just after his last fuel stop, Phend came out and his car strangely came to a halt, a damaged servo steering link the culprit, Phend, team manager Kevin Gahan and the whole TLR team gutted at the lost victory, he deserved more.

Where Dakotah hit bad luck, Maifield gained, promoted to 1st he cruised home to a victory with Ty promoted to 2nd and a charging Ronnefalk 3rd, overcoming a typically poor start and driving through the pack, the World Champion rued his opening lap which set the tone, saying he would work on improving his starts to make them clean.
