Ryan Lutz was the star of the show during Thursday’s Nitro truck qualifying made up of three rounds, Lutz bookended qualifying taking rounds 1 and 3 with Ryan Maifield claiming Q2. It was a wider quali success for the whole of team Tekno with 3 drivers placed in the top 10, whilst XRAY’s big name signing Ty Tessmann, multi-time winner here at the DNC will start 3rd on the grid for Saturday’s truck main.
A tale of differing stories for the Team Associated boys as Spencer Rivkin claimed 4th whilst Ryan Cavalieri will have to race his way through the B main down in 16th. Team Europe pinning their hopes on Boots, Ronnefalk and Zanchettin, the Swede setting the pace in practice but mistakes costing him throughout quali.
A day that was dominated by wind, a lack of watering, a first for the DNC but contributing to cutting down on the timetable and slightly happier drivers although the late finishes that are ingrained within the DNC ‘DNA’ remain.
