Last weekend saw the 4th Team Associated Masters Event held at the GCRC raceway venue on the Gold Coast, Australia. This was the last time the event will be held indoors due to the venue closing and the last event for the venue, but still, the track was 100% fresh for every competitor coming into the event with Zero practise until the start of qualifying. The turnout was bigger than expected with some big names showing up (National Champ Mitchell Steer and Nationals Runner up Alex Bernadzik) and noticeably some big names unable to make it.

In 2wd Short Course Team Associated Driver, Alex Bernadzik was dominant from the start of the event. Bernadzik comfortably took out all the qualifiers to claim TQ position and all 3 finals in front of Bryce Miller 2nd and Dan Wilson 3rd.

2wd Stock will be a very close race due to the largest amount of entries. Andrew Fowler was topping the time sheets from the get go with Jaime Cramp following closely behind at the end of Q1. By the end of Q3, the expected fast guys were there or thereabouts. Andrew Fowler took out overall TQ followed by Jaime Cramp and Team Associated Driver Dave Ruddell. Finals were a close affair…Dave Ruddell took out A1 after a mistake from the leader who was unable to recover. A2 went to Jaime Cramp and A3 was won by Andrew Fowler who saves his best for last. Jaime Cramp took the win from Andrew Fowler 2nd and Dave Ruddell 3rd.

In 2wd Mod Mitchell Steer, Alex Bernadzik and Chris Sturdy came out like rockets, times were dropping lap after lap but it was Chris Sturdy that seemed to have the upper hand throughout qualifying eventually grabbing the TQ position. During the finals all 3 drivers were pushing hard to try to claim that top step. Unfortunately for the others, Sturdy just simply had the measure of them on this day, taking his B6 to the win on 3 occasions to come out on top. Mitchell Steer in second and Alex Bernadzik in third completed the podium.

Thanks to Dave Ruddell for the report.
