2014 IFMAR World Champion Ty Tessmann looks increasingly likely to  be heading towards a long-rumoured exit from HB Racing.

Tessmann has spent his entire career with HB, a decade-long career which has been punctuated by numerous ROAR National titles, multiple Worlds podium finishes and countless race victories.

The story of Ty’s departure appears to stem from the change in ownership of HB, changing hands from founder Tatsuro Wantanbe to present owner Philippe Neidhart, after the initial chaos, it appears however that things were looking up as former HB designer Torrance Deguzman joined once more to continue the development and design of his now two-time World Champion buggy.

Despite a strong showing in Vegas; starting on pole, leading the final and taking 3rd, rumours of a departure swelled.

At last week’s Winter Cup in Padova, Italy our reporter had a chance to speak with Ty’s father Gord on the topic of moves.

Gord explained that the rumours stemmed from the blurry transition period that preceded the Neidhart purchase of HB, companies were contacted in order to secure Ty’s future – especially considering it was a Worlds year.

He didn’t hide that Ty tried a XRAY buggy,(XRAY appears to be the brand most heavily tipped) but mainly for comparative tests, which is very common amongst top drivers who wish to compare the performance of concurrent brands.

But yesterday Torrance Deguzman, designer of HB Racing responded to a post on Facebook that appears to leave no doubt about Ty’s imminent departure (see below), with rumours also that Gord Tessmann resigned from his post as HB team manager.

We contacted Adrien Bertin who seems stunned by this news since Gord and Ty agreed to continue with HB Racing to Philippe Neidhart. The contract between Ty and Gord at HB Racing ending at the end of the month, we should know more in a short time.
