nitro-x-cross-rd2-podium

This weekend saw the 2nd round of the Answer RC sponsored Nitro X Cross down in Pembrey, South Wales. The dirt track was a little damp as racing started but drying lines and a good day’s weather meant the racing would be as good as always. Milan Dragojlovic and his Maxima powered Hot Bodies took the overall TQ, but Agama man Jon Hazelwood was right on his tail, both sharing the round TQ’s between them. Chris Leighton and his Losi machine would line up 3rd and Rob West 4th and Top Jnr in qualifying Aaron Ford, both of Sworkz, took the final places in the top 5.

The first final of the day was the C final, Paul Abbot and his Bullett powered Losi were on top form and took the win in fine style, some 10s up on 2nd place man Carl O’Connor and his Mugen, a lap back was Winston Barnett and his Agama in 3rd – all 3 taking the bump to the B final.

Darren Blakeley also of Agama would start pole in the B and dominate it after a tricky start. He got his way back up the field in fine style to then go and take the win by over a lap. It was a superb drive by Losi man Chris Cox to get 2nd from 7th on the grid. Also a stunning drive from Agama driver Mark Morris who started way back in 9th but drove a blinder to get the final bump spot in 3rd.

The A final would see an epic battle at the front between Milan and Jon, Milan had the lead early on Jon but he soon took it from him with his Bullett powered machine and maintained it for a long period of time, before Milan managed to take it back in the later stages of the race and then go on and take the win. A great close race by the front 2, fantastic racing and great driving by both! Milan crossed the line barely 1s ahead of Jon. Chris Leighton and his Werks powered machine got a great 3rd place, after a great 20mins of exciting racing. Rob West got 4th and Top Jnr Aaron Ford came home 5th, a brilliant drive by the young Sworkz man to maintain his place in a tough field of racers.

Milan now leads the series after 2 rounds but it’s all still to play for with 4 more rounds, the next of which is at Coventry Model Car Club on 11th December. All of the day’s results, the series information and booking in can be found here. (photo credit Chris Lovell)
