As future host of the 2016 IFMAR Worlds, RC Tracks of Las Vegas was chosen as this year’s host of the Sidewinder Nitro Explosion event, it was a TLR affair through expert buggy qualifying as Dakotah Phend secured overall TQ after two rounds, only to see some of the tide shift as team mate Ryan Maifield TQ’d Q3 setting the fastest time of the day, with a low entry and very high temperatures (115f / 46C), the event was shortened to a single day (Saturday), thus allowing more travel time, or a big Saturday night out in Vegas…

The main witnessed a disastrous start for Dakotah Phend as the poleman dropped down to 11th, he would eventually fight his way back up but it proved costly, out front it was Ryan Maifield vs. Ty Tessmann –  a running theme this year – we also witnessed these two drivers racing hard in the semi at the worlds warm up along with multiple other events.

Maifield held the lead until lap 13 where the pair switched positions, this theme ran for the mid part of the final until lap 46 of 75 where Maifield began to establish a small lead and held until the end ensuring a Sidewinder fuelled-victory at their title race.
