Two-time IFMAR World Champion Atsushi Hara has quit the SWORKz factory team.
Having joined exactly 20 months ago to the day (31st January 2014) in what would go down as one of the heavyweight ‘mega-signings’ in the RC Racing industry’s history, the partnership did not last the distance. A three year deal saw the Japanese ace sign on as a full time employee with a role of ‘Team Brand Ambassador’ and work on developing SWORKz’ 1/10 & 1/8 products.
Early signs were there already this season and a slight surprise not to see Hara racing the 1/10 EL Worlds in his native Japan, the reasons given a lack of time to prepare with a new car. The 2008 1/8 Buggy World Champion famously departed the Hot Bodies HPI team after a partnership spanning 13 years back in August 2013, he would spend some months as a free agent, testing different cars in ‘arrive n’drive’ deals before settling on the SWORKz deal. Results didn’t go Hara’s way however, as he struggled to emulate results of past at the majors (DNC, Neo, Worlds etc.) despite successes on the home front.
Dear All, I have to announcement about terminate contract for Sworkz in between myself on 31st October 2015. I’d like to thank Sworkz owner Scott Yang and Sworkz USA team manager Marty Korn. It was great opportunities to start build for new brand Sworkz with them.
