This past weekend hosted the 2015 SiKCross event, a unique supercross style race designed, organized, and hosted by Levi Jackson of SiK Track Designs. The race gathered many of the nation’s top pro’s, including that of Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri. While Cav fell just short of the win in Pro Buggy, he was able to clinch the victory over a competitive field of drivers in Pro Truck. To do so, Cavalieri was piloting a new prototype RC8B3-based truggy.

In many places around the country, the demand for truggy racing has seemingly fallen off the map compared to several years back, most likely due to higher costs to competitively race the class (wheels, tires, etc.). Despite the decrease in popularity seen by many, Team Associated clearly sees a demand is still there, and has decided to adapt the latest race-winning design and technology of the RC8B3 to the truggy market.

Several manufacturer’s have done all but walk away from the idea of truggy racing, turning their full focus to 1/8 buggy and/or 1/10 scale classes, but not AE. Our good friend and photography guru, Steve Burgess of Rugspin Graphix, managed to snap these spy shots of the newest AE beast hiding in plain sight at SiKCross.

Stay tuned for more details of the new Team Associated prototype truggy coming soon!
