This weekend hosted the third annual ASIA Off Road Championship staged at the world famous Yatabe Arena in Japan and for the first time it was run on Astroturf. This year the international presence was bigger with racers coming all the way from the USA, France, Australia, Singapore, Korea and UK’s very own Lee Martin flying over to join the super competitive Yokomo Japan factory team.

The Yatabe crew had put a brand new very tight and technical layout for the race, which proved to be fun but also very unforgiving for everyone, including Pro’s as nearly all A-main finals were filled with bobbles and crashes. In the 2wd Class, race super favorite Naoto Matsukura took the win over Lee Martin who edged out 2013 winner Kyosho’s Kohta Akimoto in third.

In the 4wd Class, Lee Martin was Naoto’s main threat but the 21 year old Japanese showed he was the boss in his backyard after recovering from a bad A1. Kyosho’s Kotah Akimoto took 2nd while young Kaito inherited 3rd place overall from 7th on the grid following a bobble filled A3 within the front runners.
