Dyckhoff takes out Rocky Cup

Jason Dyckhoff has taken out the annual Rocky Cup scoring a double win, running his new Mugen MBX7 & MBX7 Eco. Although he missed the practice on Friday, Dyckhoff took out the first two qualifying rounds for both classes. Aaron Stringer came back firing, to take out the next 2 rounds, making the points equal for Nitro. Stringer having the quickest run piped Dyckhoff for TQ honours. EP Buggy was a different story though, with Dyckhoff taking out the first 3 rounds locking in TQ for the event.

EP Finals were run first, with Dyckhoff taking the lead, and keeping it for the duration. The first final saw Dyckhoff’s car stop dead on the last lap, which was thought to be a thermo shutdown, once the marshal picked up the car it started to run again. Upon inspection after the race, he realised that his pinion had come loose, but re meshed allowing him to complete the last lap, obviously luck was on his side!

Nitro Finals saw Dyckhoff and Stringer skip away from the pack early, and commenced a 15 minute battle, with each driver sharing the lead, and never more than a few seconds between them. A problem with Stringer saw Dyckhoff take the lead, and from that point, not relinquish it. He proceeded to pull away from the pack, and put 3 laps on the field handing him his first win at the Rocky Cup, which he said, after nine years of trying, was well worth the effort.
