The last round of the Spanish 2WD Nationals took place this past weekend at the popular RC Hobby Garden track located near Barcelona. The track itself featured a slippery blue grove which made it difficult for racers to complete a heat without any mistakes. Robert Batlle secured TQ after claiming three out of the five qualifying rounds with the remaining two rounds going to Juanma Lerma. Spectators of the first A final witnessed extremely close racing between Lerma, Pineda and Batlle however after a crash between Lerma and Pineda, Batlle gained the lead and secured the first victory.

Robert Batlle wins final Spanish 2WD Nat

Going into the second final Batlle raced without any mistakes securing victory once again. Lerma unfortunately crashed and had to fight with Pineda for second place which he claimed by 0.4 seconds. We understand that Robert Batlle did not run the last A final as he did not want to get in the way of a championship podium position for the other drivers. Pineda and Lerma spent the first four minutes of the last final fighting for first place however Pineda made a mistake costing him the final and allowing Lerma the win.
