DE team driver Justin Griswold recaps from the event… The 20th annual Tumble Weed Classic in Albuquerque NM. The Surface is similar to what will be run at worlds (700lbs of sugar) so we had a really good turn out with guys testing for that. I ran three classes that included modified 1/10 buggy, modified 1/10 short course, and pro nitro buggy. All cars were run with DE Racing Borrego wheels with the carbon graphic and Panther tyres.
1/10 mod short course: I had to really work on my SCX60-CF to get it consistent for the high bite surface. In qualifying, I was really fast but had some scoring issues (missing laps) and ended up in the 5th starting position in the a-main. In usual short course fashion there was a big pile up in the first corner and I really had to pick my way through the mess. I ended up 4th at the end of the first lap and by lap 3 I was up to second. It took 3 laps to pass 1st and I never looked back. I ran Panther Rattler silver in front and red in the rear with the new orange closed cell foam.
