Italian manufacturer Radiosistemi, makers of the Crono 911 buggy have announced the signing of Spanish driver Richi Gomez. 2x Spanish champion Gomez is a driver with a reputation of moving very often, seeming never to settle in one place for two long; he started out 2010 driving the Bergonzoni R-1 buggy, used a Hong Nor at the Euro Warm up in Portugal and drove Mugen Seiki for the latter half of 2010, ending up 15th overall in the Spanish rankings last year.
Crono’s star has faded a bit in recent years after peaking with two back to back European Championship titles in ’04 & ’05 with Davide Tortorici, but hopes are high for their 911 buggy, a car developed to be lighter; especially in the drive train department, improvements in geometry etc. With Gomez as their lead driver, both driver and team will be hoping to battle for victories and perhaps dent Robert Batlle’s 6th consecutive Spanish title challenge, incidentally, the last man to win before Robert was none other than Richi Gomez.
