As many of you may remember, there looks to be a few new engine brands on their way into 2011; first off the Anglo-French ‘Nemo Racing’ (Story), along with S-WORKz (Story) – both ‘OS’ based engines which are coming soon. However, one of the other new car brands has kept a very low profile on the topic of engines; despite rumours circulating late last year of a ‘JQ Engine’ nothing appeared… Yet.
Fast forward to EFRA’s 2011 Muffler list (PDF), (each year EFRA release an updated list of mufflers/pipes which are approved for EFRA sanctioned competition) scroll down and you’ll find “EFRA2042 OS Engines Mugen-Seiki / Ninja /S-Workz / JQ Products“. Very compelling evidence that an engine release is in the pipeline from JQ Products. Notice in the above picture the lack of ‘OS’ branding on Quagraine’s buggy and the blacking-out of the engine head, we do know that JQ hasn’t been running the new engine from OS, but rather the older model for some time. Evidence would naturally suggest the deal is with OS, a company JQ has run for a number of years, his company success with JQ Products adds weight and credibility which may have made a deal with OS that bit more interesting.
