Team AE also took victories in the 2wd Mod, 2wd SCT (Cavalieri), Truck Mod & 4wd Mod (B.Thielke)
Ryan Maifield has started off 2011 with a string of indoor victories; winning the Midwest Nitro Champs (buggy class) held in Columbus, Ohio and now followed by a double win at the popular Motorama indoor event in Harrisburg, PA. Qualifying saw Serpent driver Billy Easton TQ both classes; a strong result for him on his Novarossi debut. In the final Billy led a couple of laps but had a poor lap 4 and dropped down the field; having to fight his way back up to claim 3rd. Maifield was out front but came under attack from Taylor Petersen (the most famous driver to wear pink underwear shorts) – who assumed the lead from lap 9 – 25, although Petersen stuck with him and the pair swapped positions once again on laps 48-51, disaster struck Petersen on lap 52 and he dropped to 11th; ending up 8th in the end. Petersen’s demise promoted Drake, Mitch & Easton, the only change being Billy taking 3rd with a few laps to go from JR Mitch. Jesse Robbers driving the new Hot Bodies CR8 buggy finished in 5th – a solid if unspectacular debut, but a reassuring one for designer Josh Alton; not many brand new cars make it to the end of finals at their first race.
