As we’ve reported a few times, many if not all the top teams are planning on sending drivers to Pattaya, Thailand in October to test on the layout that will be used for the Worlds – we hear some will even stay in Thailand until November, whilst others will return home and rush to make any mods or new parts. Testing on Worlds tracks is nothing new. In the case of the last couple of World Champions, most have raced on the track prior to the actual Worlds, but its rare that the guy who tests the most wins. What makes 2010 a bit more special is the brutality of the track as witnessed at the warm up, cars not able to cope with the demands of a 1 hour long final. It is perhaps this area where testers have more to gain; bullet proofing their cars in time for November. Remember the warm up winner: Meen Vejrak was already using custom made Alu skid plates to protect his car. Will we be seeing these sort of mods being developed in the coming months and tested in October? One thing is very clear, that the drivers will have an advantage going into the event, something which could play a key part in determining the finishing order at the end. What do you think ?
